My Story

When I came to the US, I started as a CNA, pouring my heart into every patient I served. Now I'm working to become an RN, and then an NP—each step forward fueled by that little girl's dream. But here's what nobody tells you about chasing a calling: sometimes the very thing you love can consume you.

I've always loved giving personalized gifts and letters to my professors, colleagues, and coworkers. There's something sacred about choosing just the right words, the perfect small token that says "I see you. Your hard work matters. You are not alone." I thought, why do I do this? Why does my heart leap when I see someone's face light up from a simple act of encouragement?

The answer came to me one night during clinical rotations.

Throughout my career in healthcare, I witnessed firsthand the toll that nursing education takes on students. The late nights studying pharmacology until words blur together. The emotional weight of holding a patient's hand as they take their last breath. The constant pressure to be perfect when lives depend on you. I watched brilliant, compassionate people—people with gifts the world desperately needs—nearly lose themselves in the process.

I also observed that many student nurses, like me and you, were neglecting their own wellness. They were so focused on caring for others that they forgot to care for themselves. I saw the exhaustion in their eyes, the way their shoulders slumped under invisible burdens, the forced smiles that didn't quite reach their hearts. I saw future healers becoming hollow versions of themselves.

And that's when I knew I had to do something.

But here's where the story gets interesting—where my purpose crystallized into something I couldn't ignore. I started noticing patterns. The students who thrived weren't necessarily the smartest or the most naturally talented. They were the ones who protected their peace. The ones who knew their identity wasn't wrapped up in a test grade or a perfect clinical performance. The ones who stayed connected to something deeper than themselves.
